(IDEX Online) - BlueRock has halted operations at its Kareevlei mine, in South Africa, after being served with a safety breach notice. The Department of Mineral Resources & Energy (DMRE) issued the notice after identifying issues during a visit on 9 November. The UK-based miner gave no details of the safety concerns that had been raised. It said in a statement: "Management is working closely with the DMRE to resolve the issues raised and hopes to restart processing in the near future. "The shutdown is not currently expected to alter the guidance for the year ended 31 December 2021 of between 22,000 and 26,000 carats produced."BlueRock said in February that the mine had a 10-year life, after an updated resource statement indicated a 53 per cent increase in net carats. Pic shows processing plant at Kareevlei.
