Two New Governors Join GIA Board

RAPAPORT... The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has appointed Jeffrey Post and Tammy Storino as governors to its board, to help steer the organization's mission andstrategic initiatives. Post, a research geologist at the SmithsonianNational Museum of Natural History, is also the curator-in-charge for themuseum's National Gem and Mineral Collection, the GIA said Tuesday. He hasserved as chairman of the department of mineral sciences and as lead curatorfor the renovation of the geology, gems and minerals exhibit. Storino, isa finance and operations executive with experience in global brands. She hasworked for Walt Disney, St. John Knits International and Too Faced Cosmetics. "Their expertise will be an invaluable asset to GIA'sconsumer-protection mission, helping to ensure that the institute remains aleader in research and innovation while delivering excellence in education andlaboratory services," said GIA president Susan Jacques. Thomas Yang, managing director and partner atexecutive-onboarding company PrimeGenesis, will leave the board aftercompleting a nine-year term.
