SEOUL, Jan 30 (Reuters) - South Korean manufacturers' business confidence edged down for February, a central bank survey showed on Tuesday, as companiesgrew more pessimistic because of local economic uncertainties and appreciation of the won.
The Bank of Korea's manufacturing business survey index (BSI) for February came in at 80 on a seasonally adjusted basis, nudging down from 83 in January.
A reading below 100 means more panelists were pessimistic for future business conditions than were optimistic. The last time the index topped 100 was in September 2010.
All BSI sub-indexes showed declines for February with exporting companies standing at 85, down 4 points versus a month ago, the BOK survey showed.
Tuesday's survey showed that manufacturers were more worried about prospective wage hikes than was the case in January.
