Speer discusses next-gen steel in the auto industry with Physics Today

John G. Speer, director of the Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center at Colorado School of Mines, discussed the role of a new generation of advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) in the automobile industry in Physics Today, the flagship publication of the American Institute of Physics. With stricter fuel-efficiency requirements, automakers are looking at materials to reduce the weight of their vehicles.
